Happy monday?

How's today been for you? I've had a good one, however unproductive. It's funny how depressing Monday's can feel. Even though i'm lucky enough to be a student without the deafening alarm clock sounding at 6.30 in the morning, I still get the monday blues.

Today I've done very little really, I had lunch with my aunt, and the rainy hours whiled away. I've got an apple loaf in the oven, and i'm happily looking forward to Jack getting back from Reading. He left at 5am this morning and won't be back til 9. At least he'll have some nice grub to look for thanks to Waitrose!

I'm lounging now listening to John Mayer's album. I ordered a new Rascal Flatts album today as well as a new one by Keith Urban - for any of you interested in country music i'll give them a shabby, non professional review when they arrive!

Ciao for now

Sunday Sunday

It's been a while since I last wrote, and I can't pinpoint why that might be but here I am at 8.06 on a rainy Sunday evening and I feel like indulging you all.

I came back to Somerset for an extended Easter break from uni on friday. It was so lovely to be back in my room, unpacking and tidying so that I could feel like it was my own again. Mama and I went for our usual walk in the woods and got totally caught in a spring shower. It's so nice that the weather is turning and you can be rained on without the threat of hypothermia... or at least a bad cold.

Friday evening came and my best friend Sarah came round, chatting commenced and then we decided to go to the cinema and watch The Bounty Hunter, which, despite terrible reviews was actually totally enjoyable and indulgent. I'm unashamedly in love with Jenifer Anniston however so I could watch anything she's in. After all I actually enjoyed Marley and Me and I'm sure that had nothing to do with the dog, as I am not a dog person.

Last night I went to said Sarah's 21st birthday party, which was held in an amazing wooden hut with a barbecue going up through the middle of it. I was designated driver, which meant that not nearly enough champagne went down the hatch, but it was fabulous to see everyone.

Today has been wonderful. I love Sunday's in Somerset. Jack and I had a long lie in, only interrupted by someone phoning to say they couldn't feed the cattle this morning because they were stuck in a lift in Bristol after a heavy one!!

We had scrumptious lunch thanks to Mummy Mitch and went for a long rainy walk this afternoon, he's making the bed now and I can't wait to snuggle up and absorb whatever dull-but-cheery Sunday night telly comes my way. X

Home Sweet Home

I came back to Somerset yesterday to sort boring paperwork for my PGCE, and arrived to find the joys of mama's homemade butternut squash soup and homemade bread. So yummy. My auntie Bow was here to see me. I can't remember the last time i've walked through the front door and she wasn't sat at the dining room table, allowing my mother to ply her with hot beverages and heart-warming food.

It rained incessantly yesterday, just as it has done today, so we didn't get a chance to go out walking on my favorite route around the woods near my house, which was a shame, but homemade cake at teatime made up for that.

I'll probably head back to Bournemouth after finishing this. I miss the girls like a part of my family when I'm away so i'm trying not to imagine what it'll be like when we all leave the South Coast and start the next part of our journey.

Tonight was meant to be fish and chips, designed perhaps to distinguish Saturday night from the rest of the evenings in the week, when invariably we watch TV and eat snacks. I think i'll go mad and have a lovely waitrose ready meal instead. Far more virtuous and tasty!

It's been wonderful to be home, however fleetingly. Being with Jack and his family last night was gorgeous, but now I somehow miss him more now. Oh well it's only a week til i've decided to call it easter and come home! I'm working on my dissertation alone now so it's fairly portable.

Over and out for now xx

Thursday 18 March 2010

Thursday's nearly Friday and Friday's nearly the weekend...

OK so it's that time of the day again, when I lose all inspiration and wonder what to do to fill my time before supper, and the evening with the girls and laughter and often...wine.

Today has been dull, I allowed myself a lie in and didn't get working until 11. I'm totally ashamed to say that the most exciting thing that has happened today is going to Wilkinson's to buy household products, yeah loo rolls, dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid that kind of thing!

I've been feeling hung over all day, which I'm ashamed to say has come from only 2 glasses of wine last night.

I'm going home tomorrow, which will be fab. It's the boyfriend's dad's birthday so we'll be trouping off to the pub for some hearty grub and booze.

As I write i'm replaying Battle Studies by John Mayer, his new album for this year. It's so subtle but moving I love it. His concert this January was epic as always, it seems he's a great player of music and of women. What a talent.

Anyway flapjacks are probably burning. Must go xx

A happy day

It's so strange that yesterday I decided to embark on the journey of writing a blog, and today I actually have something interesting to write about.

I've got quite a few passions in life, and a couple of dreams, one of which is to teach. Today that dream came true and I was accepted onto a PGCE course! Very happy about it and excited about all the challenges and opportunities it will bring me. Very scary prospect though, and it does mean that I have to learn to live happily alongside my parents again, with their rules and very slow boiling kettle!
One thing that makes me sad about my new direction for next year is that I won't get to share a flat with my wonderful friend Yasmin anymore. Living with her and Francine and Holly and Jo this year has been fantastic, and I was hoping to continue that journey with Yas next year.

It's strange how your whole life can change so quickly, just in one day in my case. Very strange feeling. But I am pleased, and tonight I will be celebrating with pizza salad and our favourite pino: Dino the pino.

It's overcast and dreary today for the first time in so long. I was saddened that the sun didn't burst through the blinds this morning begging me to join it outside.

First and foremost

It's hard to know where to begin, i've never really blogged before, and would be intrigued to know whether anyone actually wants to know about the day to day life of a final year journalism student, but it's a way to write, which is something I enjoy and to channel my thoughts and feelings for myself and anyone else who wants to know.

Today is one of those days where I feel displaced from my normal life. I got up not to go to university but to have my hair done, and once the day starts so perfectly it's hard to get back into the swing of normality. I've just finished a TV documentary all about chocolate in the run up to easter, and now all I have to content with is my dissertation. Somehow and for some reason this seems like a doable task, and so I am kicking back and enjoying the sunshine, doing washing, and starting a new hobby. Blogging.

Yesterday wasn't much better, I made flapjacks, watched escape to the country and generally whiled away the hours. Perhaps I will give myself a kick up the backside later.

Anyway, this is me, and if this is the only post I ever write then i'm sorry but i'm scatty and I forget things. But hopefully it will be the start of something good!

I hope you're all enjoying the sunshine as much as me, after all it is the little things :)
